In a significant roster update, the New Orleans Saints‘ VP and GM Mickey Loomis announced today the signing of WR Samson Nacua and the termination of QB Nathan Peterman’s contract. Nacua, standing at 6-3 and weighing 206 pounds, is the older brother of Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua.
Despite being undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, Nacua was picked up by the Indianapolis Colts and competed in their training camp. In 2023, he appeared in two games for the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers and recorded 11 receptions for 125 yards while playing for the UFL’s Michigan Panthers in 2024. His college career at the University of Utah from 2016 to 2020 saw him play in 45 games with eight starts. Nacua joins another newly signed WR, Marquez Callaway, as the Saints deal with injuries to key receivers Cedrick Wilson (groin), Equanimeous St. Brown (hamstring), and Bub Means (shin).
The addition of Nacua and Callaway aims to bolster the Saints’ wide receiver depth, ensuring the team remains competitive despite the injuries. This proactive approach highlights the team’s commitment to maintaining a robust offense throughout the season. Here’s a look at the updated Saints’ wide receiver depth chart:
