Saints Maurice Harris Could Help At Wide Receiver

New Orleans– The New Orleans Saints signed former New England Patriot and Washington Redskin Maurice Harris back in mid January. Harris 27,  is a 6-3 205 lb wide receiver out of the University Of California.

The former Golden Bear finished his collegiate career with 81 receptions for 1,009 yards receiving and 10 touchdown catches over 42 games and 14 starts.

Maurice Harris is a three year NFL veteran who has played in 28 games amassed 40 receptions for 432 yards and 1 touchdown. The New Orleans Saints recognize Harris’s versatility as a wide out and contributor on special teams as a return man.

These are Harris’s special team stats for his career: kick returns 6 for 118 yards averaging 19.7 per return 0 TD’s, punt returns: 3 for 11 yards averaging 3.7 per return 0 TD’s.

New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton loves big speedy wide outs and Harris fits the bill. He wasn’t able to crack the line up in Washington and fell to injury in New England. Perhaps Harris has an opportunity to make the team because the Saints have need of a wide out beyond team starters Micheal Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.

The Saints will be looking at wide receiver Trequan Smith very strongly this camp because of the competition from guys like Maurice Harris.
