The New Orleans Saints are the final NFL team without a head coach as their exhaustive search enters another critical phase. On Saturday, reports emerged that Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady has withdrawn from consideration, opting to remain with the Bills. Brady, just 35 years old, has been instrumental in orchestrating Buffalo’s high-powered offense, which ranks among the NFL’s elite in scoring and efficiency.
His decision to stay underscores the challenges the Saints face in securing a head coach capable of revitalizing a team in transition. Despite Brady’s withdrawal, New Orleans continues to evaluate a mix of experienced and up-and-coming candidates, including Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, and former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.
Anthony Weaver, who has overseen the Dolphins’ emerging defense, and Mike Kafka, an in-demand offensive mind, represent intriguing options for the Saints. Both candidates have already completed second interviews, demonstrating strong potential to bring fresh energy to a team seeking stability and innovation. Weaver’s success with Miami’s pass rush and secondary development has positioned him as one of the league’s rising stars, while Kafka’s reputation for offensive creativity has attracted attention league-wide.
Meanwhile, veteran coach Mike McCarthy offers the experience and proven leadership the Saints may need to weather a rebuilding phase. His Super Bowl pedigree and ability to establish foundational stability make him an appealing choice for a franchise at a crossroads.
The Saints are carefully weighing their options to ensure the next head coach aligns with the organization’s long-term goals. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi, a trusted figure within the team, remains in contention, supported by key players like Alvin Kamara and Cameron Jordan.
However, with a storied legacy and a passionate fan base eager for a return to contention, New Orleans must make a calculated decision. As the NFL’s lone remaining team without a head coach, the spotlight intensifies on the Saints’ search, with a resolution expected soon to lay the groundwork for a new era.
