Saints’ Secondary Bolstered as Marcus Maye Returns from Suspension & more news

Saints Get Defensive Boost with Marcus Maye’s Return

by Niles Carpenter/Saints Contributor

The New Orleans Saints made several roster moves on Monday, as they continue to fine-tune their squad. Offensive lineman Tommy Kraemer was waived, while wide receiver Shaq Davis found himself on the injured practice squad list, and defensive back Anthony Johnson was released from the practice squad. These adjustments are part of the ever-evolving nature of NFL rosters, where teams constantly assess their needs and look for ways to improve.

One significant development for the Saints was the reinstatement of safety Marcus Maye from the reserve-suspended list. Maye had been suspended earlier in the season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. His return is a welcome addition to the team, as he is set to resume his role as the starting strong safety.

Maye’s presence adds depth and experience to the Saints’ secondary, and his ability to make plays in coverage and against the run will be valuable as the team looks to solidify their defensive unit.

In other news, the Arizona Cardinals made a noteworthy move by claiming former Saints running back Tony Jones Jr. off waivers. This decision came in response to a knee injury suffered by Cardinals running back James Conner during their recent game.

Jones had shown promise during his brief stint with the Saints, tallying 70 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, along with contributions in the passing game.
