The New Orleans Saints have bolstered their secondary by signing cornerback Mac McCain and safety Roderic Teamer, as announced today by Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis. The team has also waived defensive end Nathan Latu. McCain, standing at 6-0 and weighing 185 pounds, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2021 after a standout college career at North Carolina A&T.

During his rookie season, he saw action in two games with the Philadelphia Eagles, recording two tackles and one special teams stop. Last season, McCain spent the entire regular season and postseason on the Eagles’ practice squad before attending training camp with the Carolina Panthers in 2023.
Teamer, a 6-0, 205-pound safety, brings four years of NFL experience to the Saints. Originally signed by the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Tulane in 2019, Teamer has appeared in 40 regular-season games with 11 starts, playing for the Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders. Throughout his career, Teamer has amassed 93 tackles, including 67 solo stops, one sack, three tackles for loss, one interception, three passes defensed, and ten special teams stops.
He impressed the Saints’ coaching staff during a tryout at their recent minicamp, earning a spot on the roster. The additions of McCain and Teamer aim to strengthen the Saints’ defensive backfield as they prepare for the upcoming season.
