Saints’ Tanoh Kpassagnon Out for the Year with Achilles Injury

By Niles Carpenter, Saints Contributor

In a surprising turn of events, Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen announced that versatile defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon will be sidelined indefinitely after tearing his Achilles during an offseason drill at the Saints facility. Approaching his 30th birthday, Kpassagnon was set to begin his fourth season with New Orleans, having initially entered the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017 as a second-round pick.

In his first season with the Saints in 2021, he matched his single-season high in sacks. Kpassagnon recorded two sacks in 15 games in 2022 and 3.5 sacks in 2023, alongside 19 tackles and nine quarterback hits in 17 games last season. He was expected to play a significant role, starting behind fellow defensive end Carl Granderson.
