The Saints enter the matchup 0–1 after falling to the Detroit Lions, 31–30, in overtime. Baltimore is 1–0 after defeating the Indianapolis Colts, 41–23.

The game is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, at noon Central time inside M&T Bank Stadium.

Saints Injury Report: Latest Updates

The Saints’ injury situation remains important, especially with several veterans and contributors appearing on the practice report.

The latest official report lists:

The most encouraging development is Alvin Kamara’s full participation. Kamara was unavailable for the Saints’ Week 1 game, and his potential return would provide a major boost to the New Orleans offense.

Cameron Jordan, Oscar Delp, Chris Olave, and Chase Young remain players to monitor closely. Their final game designations will be important before kickoff.

The Saints also have questions at tight end. Juwan Johnson’s illness and Delp’s hamstring issue could affect the team’s personnel groupings and red-zone options.

Roster Talk: Where the Saints Need Help

The Saints’ roster showed plenty of fight against Detroit, but the Week 2 matchup exposes several areas that need attention.

Tight End Depth

New Orleans needs reliable availability at tight end. Juwan Johnson is one of Tyler Shough’s trusted targets, while Oscar Delp was expected to play a role in the offense before his hamstring issue surfaced.

If either player is limited or unavailable, the Saints may need more from Noah Fant and the rest of the tight end group.

Pass Protection

Tyler Shough threw for a career-high 410 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1, but Baltimore presents a different type of challenge.

The Ravens can create pressure with multiple fronts, blitz packages, and physical play up front. The Saints must protect Shough long enough for Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele, and the rest of the receiving corps to work downfield.

Defensive Front

The Saints’ defense must be more consistent against Baltimore’s physical rushing attack. Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry create problems in different ways, and New Orleans cannot afford missed assignments or poor tackling angles.

Chase Young and Cameron Jordan are especially important to the Saints’ ability to pressure Jackson and keep him from extending plays outside the pocket.

What Week 1 Revealed About the Saints

The Saints showed tremendous resilience against Detroit. After falling behind 21–0, New Orleans scored on five of its final six possessions and nearly completed the comeback on the road.

Tyler Shough proved he could recover from a difficult start. Chris Olave established himself as an elite offensive weapon with 10 receptions for 182 yards, while Devaughn Vele added seven catches for 69 yards and a touchdown.

However, the slow start, turnover problems, and defensive inconsistency remain concerns.

Against Baltimore, the Saints cannot afford to give the Ravens an early lead and expect another 400-yard passing performance to save the day.

Big Q’s Take

The Saints have enough offensive talent to challenge Baltimore, but this game will be decided by execution.

New Orleans must start faster, protect the football, and win the early downs. The defense also has to limit explosive runs and force Lamar Jackson to consistently win from the pocket.

Kamara’s return would give the Saints a better balance between the run and pass games. His presence could also help slow down Baltimore’s pass rush by forcing the Ravens to respect the Saints’ running game.

The biggest question is whether New Orleans can play a complete game for four quarters.

Players to Watch

Tyler Shough

Shough’s ability to respond after a rough opening half was one of the biggest positives from Week 1. Baltimore will test his decision-making, pocket movement, and ability to handle pressure.

Chris Olave

Olave is coming off a career performance, but Baltimore will likely give him extra attention. The Saints need to create ways to move him around the formation and get him favorable matchups.

Alvin Kamara

If cleared to return, Kamara could immediately change the rhythm of the Saints’ offense.

Chase Young and Cameron Jordan

The Saints’ veteran and high-profile pass rushers must make life difficult for Jackson without losing contain responsibilities.

What Comes Next?

The final injury designations will determine the Saints’ available personnel, particularly at tight end, linebacker, defensive end, and running back.

New Orleans will need a clean week of preparation and a strong opening script against Baltimore. The Ravens are favored, but the Saints have already shown that they can create explosive plays and fight through adversity.

The key is avoiding another slow start.

Can the Saints upset Baltimore on the road, or will the Ravens’ rushing attack and defensive pressure prove too much?
