Scottie Scheffler reveals how many majors he would trade for a Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl victory

Scottie Scheffler is a four-time major champion after winning this past weekend’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Nothern Ireland. Scheffler has a pair Green Jackets, a Wanamaker Trophy and now, a Claret Jug.

But beyond his golf game, Scheffler is a Texan. More specifically, he’s a Dallas Cowboys fan. Scheffler, 29, was born nearly six months after the Cowboys’ last Super Bowl win. He has never seen his favorite NFL team hoist the Lombardi Trophy. How much does it mean to Scheffler? He revealed on “Pardon My Take” that he would trade one of his major championships in exchange for a Cowboys Super Bowl victory.

“I would trade one, for sure, for a Super Bowl,” Scheffler said. “I’ve been rooting for a Super Bowl for a long time. Long, hard work has gone into cheering on the Cowboys — arguably a lot more disappointment in football than there is in golf.”

That’s a big statement from Scheffler, who with his win at Royal Portrush is a U.S. Open win shy of completing golf’s Grand Slam. And yet, he would trade one of those to see Dallas reach the zenith of football again. That’s how much it means to Scheffler.

While no Super Bowl hardware to show for it, Dallas has been consistent this millennium. The Cowboys have not put together multiple losing seasons in a row since a three-year streak of 5-11 finishes from 2000-02. In fact, Dallas has just five seasons of below .500 finishes over the last 22 years. Playoff failures have been the story — it’s well documented that the Cowboys have not sniffed the NFC Championship Game in three decades.
