Last month, it was revealed that Deion Sanders was cured of his bladder cancer following a successful surgery. He ultimately underwent 14 total procedures, including a bladder removal to remove the cancer.
His son, Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders spoke to media on Monday about being away from his father during his treatment during his first NFL offseason. In true Coach Prime fashion, he wants his son’s focus on football while he takes care of himself.
“I need to stay focused mentally. Dad, he’s one person that he’ll handle what we’ve got to do,” Sanders said. “So it was something that, you know, we really ain’t need to have no formal conversation about because he’s like, ‘Y’all need to focus on what y’all can focus on you. You can’t sit here and feel sorry for me, and then that’s affecting y’all doing that.’
“So, we all knew, because our family be talking in group chats and everything. But at the end of the day, y’all able to see, able to understand everything on the field, off the field with what I go through. You’ve got to be some type of human at some point.”
