Shedeur Sanders injury update: Cleveland Browns QB sits out team drills due to ailment

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders is sitting out team drills Saturday due to an injury, the team said. He is dealing with arm soreness.

Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel took all the reps Saturday, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot. Kenny Pickett is also out with a hamstring, which left the Browns with two quarterbacks to take the bulk of the reps.

Sanders is looking to make an impression on the Browns after the franchise selected him in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft . Cleveland completely overhauled the quarterback room this year, signing Flacco and trading for Pickett before drafting two rookies in Gabriel and Sanders.

Sanders is coming off an impressive senior season at Colorado in 2024 as he helped lead the Buffaloes’ turnaround. He led the nation with a 74% completion percentage as he totaled 4,134 passing yards and 37 touchdowns.

That led Sanders to become one of the highest-rated prospects in the NFL Draft. However, his slide down the board became the biggest storyline of the weekend before Cleveland ultimately selected him in the fifth round. That came after the Browns took Gabriel, giving the franchise two rookie quarterbacks.
