Superstar Gervonta “Tank” Davis and his team used the The Ghostbuster imagery on their gear to show what will happen prefight. Davis (30-0, 28 KOs), dispatched unbeaten top contender Frank “The Ghost” Martin to defend his WBA title at 135 pounds. In his first fight since knocking out Ryan Garcia last April—meticulous took apart Martin in spectacular fashion, walking down Martin (18-1, 12 KOs) before stopping him at 1:29 of Round 8.

After a slow start due to ring rust, Davis quickly found his rhythm, systematically walking Martin from corner to corner and unleashing powerful shots, effectively neutralizing Martin’s jab with the threat of his own power. The tide turned decisively when Davis landed a stunning left uppercut followed by a devastating left cross, nearly knocking Martin out cold. Throughout the fight, Davis’s body-targeting strategy paid off as he landed an astonishing 53% of his power shots, according to CompuBox. Although Martin managed to land slightly more punches overall (81 to 79), it was Davis’s trademark efficiency that secured his victory, landing 44% of his total punches.
On the undercard, David Benavidez earned a unanimous decision against former world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk to become the interim WBC champion. Benavidez’s relentless body attack and aggressive pressure overwhelmed Gvozdyk, who struggled to counter with effective power shots. By Round 4, Benavidez’s dominance was evident as he consistently landed clean punches, maintaining a more than two-to-one advantage in power shots.
Despite Gvozdyk’s occasional successes, Benavidez’s heavy flurries and solid defense ensured he controlled the fight, ultimately winning by scores of 116-112, 117-111, and 119-109. With this victory, Benavidez positions himself for a future world championship challenge in the competitive light heavyweight division.
