The Washington Commanders will be without one of their top playmakers on Sunday. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that star wide receiver Terry McLaurin will not play against the Seattle Seahawks after re-injuring his quad during this past week’s game.
The news was first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, who shared the update on X: “#Commanders WR Terry McLaurin will be out Sunday after re-injuring his quad, Dan Quinn said.” It’s a tough setback for the veteran receiver, who had just returned to action in Week 8 after missing more than a month.
McLaurin looked sharp in his comeback game Monday night, catching three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. It appeared the 30-year-old was rounding back into form after his recovery from the initial injury sustained. However, it’s evident some pain resurfaced, and that’s prompted the Commanders’ medical staff to rule him out.
“Yeah, it’s alright, I’m just trying to take it day by day, just monitoring it, it’s a little sore and everything,” McLaurin told reporters after Monday’s loss. “… I’m just going to continue to take it day by day and see how it feels in the morning. It’s hard to say what it is and what it isn’t, you know what I mean. I feel pretty good, but we’ll see how the week progresses.”
Unfortunately for Washington, Quinn confirmed that McLaurin won’t be available when the Commanders visit Seattle on Sunday Night Football. The timing couldn’t be worse for an offense that’s struggled to find consistency through the air after taking the league by storm in 2024.
