Texans, Jaguars win HS Girls and 14U Boys finals at NFL FLAG Championships

Just a few weeks out from preseason tackle football starting up for the NFL, fans got the chance to watch football of a different type this weekend at the second annual NFL Flag Football Championships in Canton, Ohio.

The three-day event featured the High School Girls tournament, the 14U Boys tournament and select international contests, culminating in Sunday’s championship games for the two tournaments.

First up was the 14U Boys final, which pitted Jaguars Elite (representing the Jacksonville Jaguars) against team Showtime (representing the Atlanta Falcons). The Jaguars won it with a 13-0 shutout behind an impressive performance from tournament MVP Brysen Wright, who had a key pass breakup late in the game and celebrated with a backflip after time expired.

Wright also went viral earlier in the tournament for an impressive one-handed touchdown catch that caught the attention of NFL players and fans alike.

After that it was the High School Girls final, featuring the Texas Fury Texans and the Bad Rabbits Cowboys.

Ultimately it was the Texans who took home the trophy, blanking the Cowboys through two halves to win it 19-0. Quarterback Emery Beckett took home MVP honors after a three-touchdown afternoon.
