The Oklahoma City Thunder are off to a blistering start to their NBA title defense, winning their first eight games without the services of Jalen Williams. But the Portland Trail Blazers were finally able to stop the buzzsaw, beating Oklahoma City 121-119 behind 26 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists from Deni Avdija. Avdija was the ninth-overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and seems to be coming into his own in 2025. Through eight games for Portland this year, Avdija is averaging a career-best 24.4 points and 4.5 assists-per-game. After spending his first four seasons with the Washington Wizards, the 24 year old was traded to Portland for the 2024-25 season, where he teased this leap with 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds-per-game.
