The ‘Multiple Cy Young Award winners’ quiz

Happy 81st birthday to 10-time MLB All-Star, four-time Cy Young winner, two-time World Series champion and Hall of Famer, Steve Carlton! Carlton pitched in 24 MLB seasons from 1965-88, making his MLB debut on April 12, 1965 against the Chicago Cubs. His career got off to an unremarkable start, with Carlton walking the only batter he faced in that appearance.  But by the time he left St. Louis for Philadelphia, he was a World Series champion and had developed into a three-time All-Star. In his first season with the Phillies in 1972, Carlton went 27-10 with a 1.97 ERA and 310 strikeouts en route to his first Cy Young. He’d win three more over the course of the next 10 seasons and a World Series in 1980, earning a number retirement from the franchise.  Carlton was released mid-season by the Phillies in 1986, and he bounced around the league before finally retiring in 1989. He retired with a 329-244 record and a career-3.22 ERA with 4,136 strikeouts, the fourth-most all-time. Which brings us to today’s quiz. CarRead More
