Travis Hunter injury update: Jaguars star's status in question for preseason game vs. Saints

Travis Hunter could miss this week’s preseason game against the New Orleans Saints, Jacksonville Jaguars coach Liam Coen said Friday. The two-way star is dealing with an upper-body injury.

Hunter didn’t participate in Friday’s walk-through out of an abundance of caution. He instead watched the entire practice with a play sheet in his hands while standing next to Jaguars wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett, according to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner has been practicing on both offense and defense as he goes through his first training camp with the Jaguars. Coen said it’s team protocol for a player to stand next to a coach with a play sheet if he’s hurt so they can stay focused on the task at hand even though they’re not participating.

“That’s what they’re supposed to do when they’re hurt,” Coen said, via ESPN. “We want ’em to make sure that they’re locked in, getting all the calls, understanding the call and being able to watch and execute as well in their minds.”
