Trevon Diggs injury update: Dallas Cowboys DB reveals latest on status for Week 1

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs , who underwent an ACL repair in 2023 and a chondral tissue graft procedure in January, participated in practice for the first time this offseason on Monday. Though Diggs just came off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on Sunday, he isn’t ruling out playing in the Week 1 road contest against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, Sept. 4.

“Physically, I don’t have any limitations,” Diggs said, via Garrett Podell of CBS Sports. “It’s really just ramping up the conditioning part, getting back to football speed, getting back to in-game speed. That’s pretty much it.”

Diggs, 26, played in the first 10 games of the 2024 season. The 2021 All-Pro was inactive for Weeks 12 and 13 due to a groin injury and later ruled out for the remainder of the season in preparation to undergo another procedure on his knee. Diggs struggled when he was on the field last season, grading 91st out of 116 cornerbacks, according to Pro Football Focus . He made 42 tackles (35 solo), tallying two interceptions and 11 PBUs.

Diggs said he feels more comfortable coming off his latest injury than he did returning from the torn ACL the year prior. Conditioning and getting back up to game speed will determine his availability for Week 1. While the Cowboys will be off Tuesday and Wednesday, Diggs isn’t going anywhere.
