The Arizona Cardinals appeared to be on the verge of putting away the Tennessee Titans for good early in the fourth quarter. Then disaster struck, courtesy of running back Emari Demercado.

The talented running back broke free from the line of scrimmage on a third-and-1 carry and found nothing but green grass in front of him. As he raced 72 yards to the end zone for the score, Demercado got a little ahead of himself.

He dropped the ball just prior to crossing the goal line, resulting in a fumble through the back of the end zone. Touchback. Tennessee ball.

Arizona led 21-6 at the time of Emari Demercado’s massive mistake, with about 12 minutes to play in the game. Instead of taking a commanding 28-6 lead, the Cardinals turned it over and gave the Titans some serious momentum.

Tennessee would quickly capitalize, driving 80 yards in six plays to score a touchdown with 10:26 remaining in the contest. That cut Arizona’s lead to just 21-12 after a missed extra point. Without a doubt, Emari Demercado will be kicking himself and hoping his team can hold on.
