Detroit Lions receiver Jameson Williams was penalized for his celebration after a 40-yard touchdown Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. Williams raced into the end zone and jumped up on the padded part of the field goal.
The receiver hung there for a few seconds before letting go and falling to the ground. He was flagged 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play, which was assessed on the extra point attempt, which Detroit missed as the game remained tied at 6-6.

Even more costly, Philadelphia would go on to score on the ensuing drive to retake the lead, 13-6. That is where the score remains as of this writing.
The touchdown catch was the fifth of the season for Williams, who has two catches for 59 yards thus far. We’ll see whether Detroit can get things going and overcome the deficit in the second half, but this penalty may end up being a costly one.
