The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the NFL‘s oldest and proudest franchises. Part of that will always stem from the city they represent, which itself has one of the proudest and most distinct histories of any American city.
The Steelers derived their name from the city of Pittsburgh’s nickname, the Steel City. It’s a reference to the massive amounts of steel that the city has produced. Naturally, their uniforms have long since played on that. Now, the Steelers have a new 1933 throwback jerseys designed to further honor that tradition within the city of Pittsburgh.
The throwback uniform is a variation of the 1933 uniform that the team wore. You can watch the uniform unveiling here:

The uniform includes a gold helmet, gold jersey, and beige uniform pants. On the jersey, there are black stripes, with large white block letters trimmed in black on the front, and a large crest of the city. The helmet has a gold matte finish, gray facemask, and a black stripe down the middle.
Steelers President Art Rooney II shared some thoughts on the uniform in a recently released statement. He explained that they’re designed to both honor the team and the city’s history.
