In the final moments of the game, Panthers Safety Tre’von Moehrig appeared to hit 49ers WR Jauan Jennings below the belt during the Week 12 Monday Night Football game between Carolina and San Francisco.
Jennings wasn’t happy about the incident after the game. He would go on to issue a receipt for the low blow by striking Moehrig in the face at midfield during postgame handshakes.

A close up video shows Moehrig’s heavily tapes hand making direct contact with Jennings’ groin. Jennings immediately stumbled back in pain, but nothing came of it until the final buzzer sounded.
Jennings finished the game with five receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown during the winning effort. Meanwhile, Moehrig was the second-leading tackler for Carolina during the matchup. He ended the game with four solo tackles (eight total) to go along with one tackle for loss.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan reacted to the low blow. Based on his reaction, Shanahan’s feelings aren’t based in anger toward Jennings’ actions postgame.
“The guy took a cheap shot and hit him in the balls,” Shanahan said. “I was really proud of Jauan for not losing his mind out there and get him to the sideline.”
Jennings said at his locker after the game that all he was doing was responding to “childish behavior. While Moehrig said that Jennings had been talking trash all game long and even pushed him in the back. Whatever it was, it came to a head in the final moments of the 49ers win.
