The West Virginia women’s basketball team scored a huge upset on Friday night by knocking off No. 15 Duke, 57-49, to improve to 4-0 on the season. As big a win as it is for the Mountaineers, the final score is only the subplot to the real story of the game. West Virginia secured the win after not only trailing at halftime by three points, but also after having six players — including five bench players and a starter — all get ejected from the game due to an altercation at the end of the first half. It all started when Duke’s Jordan Wood blocked a potential buzzer-beating shot from Jordan Harrison, and then proceeded to taunt her after the buzzer. That infuriated both Harrison and the West Virginia bench. So much so that five West Virginia players stormed off the bench to join the altercation, resulting in six ejections.
