New York Mets starting pitcher Griffin Canning suffered a brutal blow when he went down with a season-ending ruptured left Achilles during the club’s 4-0 win over the Atlanta Braves on June 26. While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Canning revealed that he plans to reach out to NBA star Klay Thompson about recovering from such a serious setback. “I’m good friends with Trayce Thompson, so he kinda connected me with his brother,” Canning explained, as shared by Manny Gomez of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com. “It’s pretty early in the stages at this point. I have some questions, so I’m going to reach out to Klay for sure.” As Newsday’s Ben Dickson noted, Trayce Thompson is currently in the Boston Red Sox organization.
