Yankees eyeing Rockies one-time All-Star as backup plan at third base

With the MLB trade deadline less than a week away (July 31), the Yankees remain in desperate need of a steady, productive option at third base.  Eugenio Suarez is one of the hottest names on the rumor mill across the league, and the Yankees are definitely in the mix to acquire the NL RBI leader (86). The Yankees may have stiff competition for Suarez from other contenders looking to add pop at the hot corner. The Cubs could use a short-term solution at the position. In addition, two of Suarez’s former teams, the Mariners and the Tigers, are likely to at least kick the tires on a reunion.  GM Brian Cashman and the front office in the Bronx know a “Plan B” may very well be necessary.
