Yankees targeting Pirates All-Star for starting rotation

The Yankees have dealt with a rash of injuries to their pitching staff all season long, so it makes sense that GM Brian Cashman recently intimated that improving the club’s pitching staff would be a top priority leading up to this month’s MLB trade deadline. Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reported Cashman as saying last week that “whether it’s bullpen guys or starting pitchers, it’s just all of it.” The longtime GM continued, “That’s the area. We have people that are capable, but I think it also needs to get some help.” Mitch Keller is not only becoming one of the hottest names being tossed around the rumor mill, but he closed out the first half of the season as one of hottest pitchers in the National League.  Over his last six starts, Keller has cruised to the tune of a 1.96 ERA and 0.85 WHIP.
