YouTube TV nearing end of deal with major network for live sports

Subscribers of YouTube TV could be losing live sports from NBC very soon. According to CNBC, the YouTube TV-NBCUniversal deal is set to expire at the end of September, meaning live sports such as college football and the NFL that air on NBC could no longer be seen on the platform.

NBC is the home of the NFLโ€™s Sunday Night Football and college footballโ€™s Big Ten Saturday . The network also airs nearly all of Notre Dameโ€™s games. YouTube TV has around 10 million subscribers and wants lower rates for NBCUniversalโ€™s networks.

It was reported that YouTubeTV executives havenโ€™t been happy with the way NBCUniversal has priced Peacock, โ€œarguing it has undermined the wholesale value of NBCUโ€™s cable bundle.โ€ That is one of the reasons why Peacock reportedly raised its price in July.

If a deal isnโ€™t done by the end of September, college football fans who have YouTube TV will miss Notre Dame taking on Boise State (Oct. 4), USC (Oct. 18), Navy (Nov. 8) and Syracuse (Nov. 22). NBC is also set to air a Big Ten game on Nov. 29, when Indiana takes on Purdue.
