Zion Williamson, the rising star of the New Orleans Pelicans, is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to prepare his body for the grueling 2023-24 NBA season. According to reports by The Athletic’s Will Guillory, Williamson has placed a strong emphasis on conditioning during his offseason training regimen. This upcoming season holds immense significance for the 23-year-old, as he aims to solidify his status as a reliable and dominant presence in the league. In his first four seasons, Williamson has been plagued by injuries, limiting him to just 114 games on the court.
Been hearing good things about the work Zion's putting in this summer.

Was told he's been really focused on making sure his body is prepared for a long season. Think he's gonna come in with a chip on his shoulder. pic.twitter.com/m1bkf4bhyc
Over the past two seasons, Williamson’s time on the hardwood has been limited to a mere 29 games, largely due to injuries. A significant setback occurred during the 2021-22 season when a Jones fracture in his foot necessitated surgery, sidelining him for the entire campaign. Despite an initial optimistic outlook on his return, he faced a series of setbacks, including a hamstring injury that ultimately led to a season-ending absence.
Williamson’s journey has been marred by uncertainties surrounding his injuries, causing anxiety among fans and the Pelicans organization. Despite the immense potential he showcased when on the court, consistency and durability have remained elusive. The Pelicans committed to the young talent in July 2021 with a lucrative five-year rookie max extension, underlining their faith in his abilities.
While Williamson’s determination to get his body in peak condition is a promising sign, it is crucial for him to complete a full season without major injuries to solidify his reliability. A healthy Zion Williamson could be a game-changer for the Pelicans in the fiercely competitive Western Conference, potentially elevating the team’s fortunes and building upon their first winning record since 2017-18. As fans eagerly anticipate his return, they hope to see him shine and lead the Pelicans to success in the 2023-24 NBA season. Go Pels!
