Zion’s Triple-Double Powers Pelicans Past Clippers, 127-120

By Rell Wright, Pelicans Contributor

Zion Williamson delivered a commanding performance to snap the New Orleans Pelicans’ four-game losing streak, leading them to a 127-120 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Williamson recorded his first triple-double of the season, contributing 22 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds.

The Pelicans jumped out to a 21-point first-half lead, capitalizing on the Clippers’ poor 3-point shooting, but saw their advantage slip away by the third quarter. With the game in the balance, Williamson stepped up, tallying 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists in the fourth quarter, showcasing his ability to dominate in clutch moments.

CJ McCollum and Trey Murphy III added critical scoring support with 23 and 21 points, respectively. Murphy’s highlight-reel reverse alley-oop dunk from McCollum electrified the home crowd, while rookie Karlo Matkovic chipped in 15 points, further solidifying the Pelicans’ depth.

Despite strong outings from Kawhi Leonard, who led all scorers with 29 points, and James Harden, who added 25 points and 17 assists, the Clippers couldn’t keep pace in the final stretch. The Pelicans shot an impressive 54.8% from beyond the arc and capitalized on Williamson’s relentless energy, with a coast-to-coast dunk at the end of the third quarter setting the tone for their hard-fought win.

Up next, New Orleans looks to build on this momentum as they host the Orlando Magic on Thursday.
