Zion’s Triple-Double Powers Pelicans Past Suns, 124-116

Zion Williamson delivered a historic performance on Thursday night, recording his first career triple-double with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists to propel the New Orleans Pelicans to a 124-116 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

The win marks New Orleans’ third straight triumph, tying their longest winning streak of the season, and showcased the team’s ability to close out games in decisive fashion.

Williamson’s dominance in the paint, particularly in the fourth quarter, highlighted a resilient effort as the Pelicans overcame a late third-quarter deficit to seal the victory.

CJ McCollum contributed 19 points, while Trey Murphy III’s sharpshooting added 18 points, including five 3-pointers. Yves Missi and Karlo Matkovic chipped in double-doubles, reinforcing the Pelicans’ balanced offensive attack.

New Orleans controlled the game early, opening up an 18-point lead in the first half before weathering a Phoenix rally that briefly gave the Suns a slim advantage at halftime. However, the Pelicans’ defensive intensity and clutch shooting in the final period ensured they left Phoenix with the win.

Williamson’s poise in orchestrating the offense and making critical plays down the stretch demonstrated why he’s a cornerstone for this franchise. With this victory, the Pelicans improved to 5-24 on the road, showing signs of a team gaining confidence at the right time.

As the fading Suns struggle to regain their footing, losing seven of their last eight, New Orleans is proving they have the firepower to disrupt opponents and stay competitive in a tightly contested Western Conference playoff race.
