New Orleans, LA– The Pelicans Brass decided to meet with superstar player Anthony Davis last week in a last ditch effort to convince him to remain with the team. The New Orlean’s VP of Basketball Operations David Griffin upon taking the job gave a “in with us or out” spill in which his vision of the team would lead the Pels to respectability again. Obviously AD would do the unthinkable and turn down the max deal of $235.5 million plus the new look Pelicans which included future phenom talent Zion Williamson.
With all the changes the team implemented which included the recent signing of former WNBA Star Swin Cash to the Vice President Of Basketball Operations, Davis has his mind made up to head west to team up Lebron and the Lakers. AD’s other prefered destination is the bright lights of Madison Square Garden and the New York Knicks. Griffin now turns to building the framework of a trade deal that will likely include three teams, players and picks.
According to several media sources the Pelicans want to have a deal in place in time for the 2019 NBA Draft on June the 20th. Griffin is requesting a combination of assets that include an All-Star player, a young player with All-Star potential and two first-round picks. The idea is to add picks, players along side guard Jrue Holiday and future first overall pick Zion Williamson.
The Toronto scenario in which the Raptors traded for a one year rental of All Star forward Kawhi Leonard who ultimately got his team to finals, have other teams thinking they can replicate that success with Davis. NBA Teams that are interested in AD’s services so far are: Boston, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland, Brooklyn, New York, Phoenix and Milwaukee.
In other Pelicans news, future first rounder phenom Zion Williamson flew into town to meet up with the Pelicans Brass. The organization is looking to build a contender with Zion and guard Jrue Holiday at the center of the team.
