Commanders dealt significant blow with Jayden Daniels ruled out for ‘MNF’ Chiefs showdown

The Washington Commanders are set to be without star second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels for a major “Monday Night Football” showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. On Wednesday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport shared that Daniels (hamstring) will be inactive as the Commanders (3-4) look to snap a two-game losing streak and avoid potentially falling further back of the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles (5-2), who host the New York Giants (2-5) on Sunday. In his place, journeyman Marcus Mariota, the No. 2 overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, will make his third start of the season. He also started in Weeks 3-4 as Daniels nursed a knee injury.
