Terry McLaurin arrived to training camp on Sunday without a new deal, but won’t yet be practicing with his Washington teammates.
The Commanders wide receiver was reinstated to the active roster upon his arrival and was placed on the physically unable to perform list with an ankle injury, the team announced.
Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Sunday that McLaurin will be working off to the side with trainers, but it’s uncertain when his ankle will be fully recovered enough to practice. The Commanders head coach added that McLaurin is dealing with an injury to the same ankle that was hurt at the end of last season.
“I’m really pumped that he is here,” Quinn said. “He is such an awesome competitor. At his core, that’s who he is.”
McLaurin, who’s expressed his frustrations with the club over the offseason, held out of the first four days of training camp over his current contract, which ends following the 2025 season. He signed a three-year, $68.2 million extension in 2022.
The veteran WR took one step toward preparing for the upcoming season, but a resolution to his frustrations has yet to be resolved and an ankle injury is preventing him from officially joining his teammates on the field.
