Former LSU WR Boutte arrested for placing underage sports bets

Former LSU receiver Kayshon Boutte faced legal trouble following an arrest warrant issued for his alleged involvement in illegal gambling activities. Reports from WAFB detailed Boutte’s betting activities, revealing he made around 17 NCAA football wagers, including six on LSU games and two on himself. Despite being underage for gambling, Boutte used two accounts, one under ‘Tanisha Boutte’ and another as ‘Kayla Fortenberry’, to place these bets.

Interestingly, Boutte bet on himself scoring a touchdown and exceeding 82.5 receiving yards in the 2022 season opener against Florida State, but failed to achieve either. The larger ‘Fortenberry’ account showed significant activity: $100,939 deposited in 2022, leading to winnings of $385,597.71 from 1,520 bets. However, much of these winnings were reinvested in further bets. By the end of 2022, only $331.47 remained in the account, after withdrawals totaling $35,235.20.

In 2023, the account was recharged with $31,208.53 and won $170,675.87 from 1,549 bets. By the end of that year, the account balance dwindled to a mere $0.67, following withdrawals of $15,046.56. Overall, the ‘Fortenberry’ account executed a staggering 8,927 wagers between April 2022 and May 2023. Boutte’s betting activities, particularly on himself and LSU football, have drawn considerable attention, emphasizing the complexities and potential risks of student-athletes engaging in sports betting.
