Garrett Wilson, New York Jets agree to terms on monster extension

The New York Jets and receiver Garrett Wilson have reached an agreement on a four-year, $130 million extension with $90 million guaranteed, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Wilson’s $32.5 annual salary makes him the fifth highest-paid wideout in the NFL .

Wilson, New York’s 2022 first-round pick, becomes the first receiver in league history to reach an average north of $31 million after playing only three seasons. He is now under contract through the 2030 season.

The 24-year-old has been the Jets’ top option in the passing game since entering the league. This past season, he posted career highs across the board with 101 receptions for 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns. Wilson is one of just five players in NFL history to record 1,000 plus yards and 80 plus receptions in each of his first three seasons. The others were Ja’Marr Chase , Justin Jefferson , Michael Thomas and Odell Beckham Jr.

Wilson has been an iron man for the Jets, playing in 51 out of a possible 51 games. He’s continued to put up big numbers despite catching passes from seven different quarterbacks. In total, Wilson has hauled in 279 passes for 3,249 yards and 14 touchdowns.
