Najee Harris was in the middle of a scary Fourth of July incident just around 10 days ago. Harris suffered an eye injury, one of multiple people treated or even taken to the hospital. From the get-go, the message has been Harris will be ready for the start of the 2025 season.
As for training camp, more good news came for the new Los Angeles Chargers running back. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says Harris should not miss any “significant” time. This will help him prepare for the year ahead and eventually be available to play Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
“I think some questions regarding Najee Harris’ availability is fair,” Rapoport said. “My understanding of where he stands is he is not expected to miss significant time. Now, there was a fireworks incident, it does sound like some damage — “superficial” was the word that his agent Doug Hendrickson used. But from what I understand, this will be someone on the field sooner rather than later and is not expected to miss games.”
Anytime a fireworks injury takes place, questions about long-term status do pop up. Harris thankfully escaped without something too major. Rapoport pointed out not everybody involved in the incident can say.
Shortly after news broke, a statement was released by Hendrickson. He was the one to reveal that Harris is not expected to miss any regular season games. A massive win for the Chargers as they expect to carve a big role out for Harris.
