About 24 hours after New York Jets owner Woody Johnson basically blamed quarterback Justin Fields for the team’s 0-7 start this season, first-year head coach Aaron Glenn avoided saying whether Fields or backup Tyrod Taylor will start Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4). On Wednesday, Glenn responded to Johnson’s comments, which seemed to indicate that the owner no longer wanted to see Fields in the lineup. “The first thing I would say is he’s our owner and he has the right to his opinion,” Glenn said, per Alex Smith of SNY. “And when you look at that, it’s really something that’s been said across the board from everyone, including Justin: we have to improve, and we understand that. We’ve gone two games without scoring a touchdown, and we have to make sure that we get better in that aspect.” As Glenn referenced, the Jets haven’t recorded an offensive touchdown since their 37-22 Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 5.
