LSU Snags Five-Star OL Weston Davis from Texas A&M

by Milton Manningham/ LSU Football Contributor

In a stunning move, LSU secured the commitment of Weston Davis, a five-star offensive lineman, previously pledged to Texas A&M. Davis’ decision came on the heels of a visit from LSU’s offensive line coach, Brad Davis, to Beaumont United in Texas. Ranked by On3 as the No. 3 offensive tackle in the nation, Davis is a monumental addition to the Tigers’ roster.

Touted as the No. 18 overall prospect in the U.S. and a top 5 recruit in Texas, Davis’ skill set promises to elevate LSU’s offensive front. This commitment speaks volumes of Coach Davis’ recruiting abilities, as LSU now boasts two Top 10 offensive tackle commitments: Davis and North Carolina’s Ethan Calloway.

With Davis’ acquisition, the Tigers’ offensive line commitments for this cycle have grown exponentially. In addition to Davis and Calloway, LSU also celebrates the commitments of Khayree Lee and Joseph Cryer, both interior offensive linemen from Louisiana, and Texas offensive tackle, Ory Williams. Brad Davis, through sheer tenacity, has managed to assemble a remarkable offensive line squad for the third consecutive year.

On3’s scouting insights on Davis describe him as a “light-footed, flexible offensive tackle” with significant growth potential. Originally a basketball athlete, his transition to football has displayed his raw talent and agility. While he may require some fine-tuning and strength development, Davis’s future in LSU seems promising, as he’s expected to mature into a dominant force on the field.
