San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones took a big hit in the third quarter of Thursday’s Week 5 road contest against the Los Angeles Rams. Jones stayed on the ground and grabbed his left knee in pain.
It didn’t look good for Jones in the moment. However, he got up and jogged off the field during the commercial break.

Jones, starting in place of the injured Brock Purdy , has been dealing with a sprained left PCL. He is wearing a brace on his left knee, and he was seen limping on the 49ers’ drive before the hit from Rams defensive end Byron Young . Jones came back out for San Francisco’s next drive in the third quarter.
Prime Video sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung said that Jones was sitting on the bench, receiving fluids from the 49ers’ training staff. He was receiving treatment to his calf, suggesting that he might have been dealing with a cramp.
“While Mac Jones was on the sideline, he spent most of the time on the bench. He was pushing electrolytes and fluids,” Hartung said. “The athletic trainer was using a massage gun on his left calf. I didn’t see any kind of formal evaluation of that knee. All of that suggests he was cramping.”
