Micah Parsons trade request: Jerry Jones reveals whether relationship can be salvaged with Cowboys star

Tensions are high in Dallas between Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and star linebacker Micah Parsons , to say the least. Parsons recently requested a trade with contract negotiations stalling out, and Jones has not been shy about taking shots at him.

The owner said that he has no intentions of trading Parsons and did not consider the trade request to be serious. That begs the question of whether, after all this, it is possible for them to work out a deal and repair their relationship before the season begins. But Jones apparently isn’t too worried.

“I think the relationship is what it is,” he said Saturday. “… I like Micah.”

Parsons, 26, is entering the final year of his rookie deal. The two-time All-Pro pass rusher revealed that he initially approached the Cowboys about a contract extension after the 2023 season but the team “did not want to start any negotiations at that point.”

The linebacker has been a key part of the Cowboys defense over the past four seasons after winning Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021. This past season he recorded 43 total tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass defended across 13 games.
