The Who Dat Daily/Gee Balance
New Orleans – The New Orleans Pelicans have been more than active in search in filing GM slot vacated by a terminated Dell Demps. The Pel’s current owner Gayle Benson was recently quoted as saying she would not sell the team. Mrs Benson made a mission to change the culture of the hierarchy of the Pelicans by taking overseeing duties away from New Orleans Saints GM Mickey Loomis. & said the new GM would directly report to her.
The interim Pelican GM Danny Ferry is accomplished in his own right & is mentioned as a possible permanent replacement. The Pelicans have a good group of possible candidates for the GM job:
Ast GM Larry Harris – 56 currently working for the defending World Champion Golden St Warriors since 2008. Harris was understudy of Don Nelson before promotion to his current job, which includes Director of Player Personnel after the 2014-15 season. (Due to interview Friday according by NBC Sports)
Ast GM Trajan Langdon – Langdon is the ast GM for the Brooklyn Nets and for the team’s G-League affiliate, the Long Island Nets. Langdon was also named the G-League’s Executive of the Year on Friday. The Long Island Nets finished with a 34-16 tied for the best record in the league.
Ast GM Gersson Rosas – Rosas is in his 16th season working with the Rockets and his 5th as the team’s executive VP of Basketball operations. Rosas, a native of Colombia, has been a candidate for GM jobs in the past.
Ast GM David Griffin – Griffin most recently was the GM for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who under his tenure went to 3 consecutive NBA Finals appearances & is working on NBA TV as analyst.
New Orleans is actively looking to fill the position as reports indicate after the season ends before the NBA Draft. The Pelicans are series about improving their team as the new GM will be tasked with the Anthony Davis trade, deciding on the fate of current Coach Alvin Gentry, Free-agency & the NBA Draft. The team is one season removed from the playoffs but curious decisions by former GM & Coach have reduced to Pelicans to rebuilding team.
The new GM will have a lofty job on his hands to right the ship moving ahead, but these are a solid list of candidates who come from solid backgrounds to help to the turn the team around.
