In a surprising turn of events, the New Orleans Pelicans have emerged as a potential destination for Atlanta Hawks‘ guard Dejounte Murray, as per NBA insider Chris Haynes. Despite the Los Angeles Lakers being the frontrunners in the chase for the former All-Star, the Pelicans have reportedly shown a keen interest, positioning themselves as a sleeper team in the pursuit of Murray. Although Haynes clarified that a deal has yet to materialize, the very notion of New Orleans being “very much in play” underscores the dynamic nature of NBA trade discussions.

The Hawks, sitting at a 22-28 record, have been open to offers for Murray, a player who has previously been linked primarily with the Lakers. However, with Los Angeles potentially opting to conserve assets for a more significant acquisition in the upcoming offseason, the Pelicans’ involvement introduces an intriguing twist to the narrative.
