Report: Will Levis will undergo shoulder surgery, miss 2025 season

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis will undergo surgery on his throwing shoulder, sidelining him for the 2025 season, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The surgery is scheduled for July 29.

Levis began last season as the Titans’ full-time starting quarterback for the first time in his career. Levis had a rocky start to the season. The Titans went 1-4 in their first five games of the 2024 campaign and Levis threw seven interceptions, compared to just five touchdowns.

In the Titans’ Week 4 win over the Miami Dolphins, Levis injured his AC joint in his shoulder. Alas, after undergoing a medical examination, Levis opted to play in the Titans’ Week 6 showdown against the Indianapolis Colts.

He completed 16-of-his-27 pass attempts for 95 yards, a touchdown and an interception against the Colts. The Titans ultimately fell 20-17 in the game, and Levis missed the next three games due to his pre-existing injury.

In Levis’ absence, Mason Rudolph started for the Titans. When Levis returned in Week 10, he began to show improvement, particularly regarding his turnover issue.

In his first four games back from injury, he completed 71-of-his-115 (61.7%) of his pass attempts for 960 total yards and seven touchdowns while only throwing two interceptions. However, disaster struck again the following week when the Titans failed to score a touchdown for the first time in the season and lost 10-6 to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Levis’ misfortunes only snowballed the following week when he was benched after throwing three interceptions against the Cincinnati Bengals. In the final game of the season, Levis alternated drives with Rudolph, and the Titans fell 23-14 to the Houston Texans.
