In a strategic move to bolster their defense, the New Orleans Saints have secured a deal with linebacker Khaleke Hudson, welcoming the unrestricted free agent to the team with a one-year contract. Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis made the announcement on Thursday, marking a significant addition to the Saints’ lineup. Hudson, who brings a wealth of experience from his tenure with the Washington Commanders, has been a formidable presence on the field, particularly on special teams, where he played 73% of the snaps in 2023.

The 6’0″, 220 lbs. linebacker has shown a notable improvement in his game, stepping up on defense in the past year to deliver career-high performances. Throughout 17 games, including 8 starts, Hudson amassed 74 tackles, 44 of which were solo, alongside five tackles for loss, one sack, two passes defensed, and two quarterback hits. His journey in the NFL began when he was drafted by Washington in the fifth round of the 2020 Draft, following a distinguished college career at Michigan where he excelled in a unique “viper” role, blending the skills of a linebacker and a safety. His record-tying performance against Minnesota in 2017 highlighted his college tenure, setting a high bar for his professional aspirations.
