New Orleans,LA – The New Orleans Saints made several movements to get its roster to 80 players today. The team placed LB Kiko Alonzo and CB Johnson Bademosi on the physically unable to play (PUP) list.
The Saints then released several players to be compliant with the 80 man roster limit per the latest union agreement. The players released were:
- DT Taylor Stallworth
- WR Krishawn Hogan
- CB Deatrick Nichols
- FB Ricky Ortiz
- WR Tommy Lee Lewis
- DE Gus Cumberlander
- S Chris Johnson
- OL Adrian Magee
- RB Taquan Mizzell
- WR Maurice Harris
Among the cuts that surprised me was the releasing of former XFL CB Deatrick Nichols and WR Maurice Harris. Nichols who led the XFL in intercepts was a bit undersized but had an excellent bulldog mentality and a nose for the ball. Harris was a young vet with size and speed but was released in my opinion because the signing of six year wide out Bennie Fowler.
