The Saints gave Who Dat Nation a victory to celebrate—and a finish to debate.
New Orleans defeated the New York Giants 34–27 at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, snapping a three-game losing streak and improving to 2–4. After building a 34–10 lead, the Saints had to withstand a fourth-quarter rally to secure the road win. 2026 NFL Week 6
Join Big Q and Pops Q on The Sports Coma for a full Saints vs. Giants recap, from Tyler Shough’s four-touchdown performance to the questions this team still needs to answer.
Shough supplies the touchdowns
Shough delivered three passing touchdowns and one rushing score. His touchdown throws went to Bryce Lance, Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave, giving New Orleans several contributors in the scoring column. neworleanssaints.com
That is the encouraging part of this response: the Saints found multiple ways to finish possessions. The challenge is making that production repeatable, especially when the offense needs a drive to protect a lead.
The spark came from more than the quarterback
Special teams helped change the game. Isaiah Stalbird forced Charlie Jones to fumble a kickoff, Oscar Delp recovered, and New Orleans converted the opportunity into a touchdown before halftime. www.neworleanssaints.com
The defense supplied three interceptions, including two by Martin Emerson Jr. and another by Julian Blackmon. Those plays deserve attention alongside the touchdowns because extra possessions can change what an offense needs to accomplish. 2026 NFL Week 6
The running game also gave New Orleans a foundation, producing 175 yards. Miller led the workload, Donaldson contributed, and Shough added production on the ground. Oct. 18, 2026
Kamara adds a milestone to the win
Kamara’s 31-yard touchdown reception pushed him into a rare club: he became the sixth NFL player to reach 5,000 career rushing yards and 5,000 career receiving yards.
It was another reminder of the versatility that has defined his Saints career. neworleanssaints.com
A needed win, with closing concerns
The Giants scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, turning a comfortable Saints advantage into a one-possession game. 2026 NFL Week 6
That leaves two fair reactions. New Orleans deserves credit for ending its slide. Kellen Moore and his staff also need to examine how the closing stretch became so difficult.
Can the offense extend possessions when the opponent knows a run may be coming? Can the defense limit the explosive gains that accelerate a comeback? Those are useful questions for a team trying to turn one win into sustained improvement.
