Throughout Shedeur Sanders’ NFL preseason debut with the Cleveland Browns, his father Deion celebrated. Coach Prime posted multiple times during the game, including when Shedeur threw his first touchdown.
Afterward, Shedeur Sanders made it clear he wasn’t satisfied with his performance. That’s why he apologized to his dad because of what he saw.
Sanders offered a message to Deion during an in-game interview on the Browns broadcast. The former Colorado star had a strong day as he got the start in the preseason opener – but, clearly, it wasn’t to his standards.
“Sorry, Pops,” Sanders told Aditi Kinkhabwala during the game. “I ain’t do what I was supposed to do fully. We’ll live to see another opportunity.”
Sanders completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns in over two quarters of action. At the time of his departure, the Browns had a 21-7 lead over the Carolina Panthers, and Cleveland eventually came away with the 24-7 victory.
Coach Prime was a proud dad throughout. He shared his reaction to Shedeur’s first touchdown pass to Kaden Davis , saying “Yes Lawd! Yes!” and more big plays, including a response to his impressive second touchdown to Davis late in the second quarter.
As for how he’d make his dad happy in the future, Sanders knows what he needs to do. In fact, it’s something he started to work on under Deion’s watch at Colorado.
