The rematch between Terence “Bud” Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. is officially on the horizon. ESPN’s Mike Coppinger has reported that the bidirectional rematch clause has been activated, giving fans a second chance to witness these two formidable fighters in the ring later this year. The clause stipulated that the loser of their recent bout had a 30-day window to trigger the rematch, and true to form, Errol Spence Jr. wasted no time in seizing this opportunity.

Adding an intriguing twist to the rematch, the winner of their initial clash in July was granted the authority to choose the weight class for the upcoming fight. The rematch could potentially take place at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds or accommodate Spence’s preference at 154 pounds. Derrick James, Spence’s trainer, confirmed to ESPN that the former unified welterweight champion has indeed activated his rematch clause, underscoring the determination to reclaim his standing in the boxing world.
This highly anticipated rematch is expected to mark the junior middleweight debut for both Crawford and Spence, venturing into the 154-pound division for the first time. While details such as the exact date and location of the fight remain undisclosed, the boxing community is already abuzz with speculation. The first encounter was an exhilarating showdown that culminated in Crawford’s victory, securing all four major belts in the welterweight division with a ninth-round stoppage.
