The Who Dat Daily/Gee Balance
New Orleans, La– The New Orleans Pelicans decided to ink former Cleveland Cavalier GM to a deal to be their Vice President of Basketball Operations friday. Griffin whose has won a championship with Cleveland in 2016 as a GM was a favorite for the Lakers recently VP job, agreed to take the New Orleans opening. He now has a supreme opportunity to build the Pelicans organization into perennial playoff power by making some key moves this off-season that starts with the Anthony Davis.
Griffin who probably will hire a new GM to work with him, will make some major decisions in the near future on several key decisions surrounding the team. Some off those decisions are:
-Trading All-world forward Anthony Davis
-Deciding On The Faith Of Current Coach Al Gentry
-NBA Draft Decisions
-NBA Free-agency
He has two max contracts that are $20 million or more on the team including Anthony Davis on the books. The rest are deals that are below $10 million including forward Julius Randles player option that many expect him to opt out after his best season as a pro. The Solomon Hill $12 million a year contract is set to expire next year but it’s highly likely the team will package him with any A.D. trade deal. This team will look totally different in the upcoming year as budding Allstar Jrue Holiday is to be the face of the franchise. It should be noted that rumors circulating around the NBA could involve trading Jrue Holiday to as the team looks to build thru the draft.
The organization decided to move in the direction of hiring a VP who will report directly to the owner. Griffin is well respected & liked throughout the league, his signing signals that the Pels are ready to do things the right way. Stay tuned
