Zion Williamson Finger Injury Update

Zion Williamson Finger Injury Update

By Rell Wright/Pelican Contributor

Zion Williamson was seen with his left middle finger taped, sparking concerns among New Orleans Pelicans fans. Coach Willie Green brought a sigh of relief during Thursday’s practice with an update on the Pelicans’ star forward. Following medical evaluations, it has been confirmed that there is no structural damage to any fingers on Williamson’s pivotal shooting hand. “Z is good,” assured Green, emphasizing the negative results from the X-rays and the absence of any significant structural concerns. The soreness in Williamson’s finger is the only aftermath of an incident that occurred during the second quarter of the loss to Orlando, where Williamson, in a defensive effort, blocked a shot by Magic guard Jalen Suggs but collided with the backboard in the process.

Despite the discomfort, Williamson continued to play until he was substituted out with a little over seven minutes left in the fourth quarter and did not return to the court. Green has classified the injury as a “contusion” but remains uncertain about Williamson’s availability for the upcoming game on Friday against the San Antonio Spurs. The Pelicans, their fans, and the basketball community await further updates, hoping for a swift recovery for one of the most dynamic players in the league.
