Keyshawn Davis made a resounding statement Friday night, capturing the WBO lightweight title with a scintillating fourth-round knockout of Denys Berinchyk at Madison Square Garden. The 24-year-old Olympian showcased his power and precision, dropping the previously unbeaten Berinchyk twice before sealing the victory with a brutal left hook to the body.
Berinchyk, unable to recover, was counted out at the 1:45 mark of Round 4. With the victory, Davis (13-0, 9 KOs, 1 NC) tied Oscar De La Hoya for the third-fewest fights needed to win a lightweight title, cementing his place as one of boxing’s brightest stars.
Now holding his first world title, Davis is already looking to the division’s elite. “I want the best in the game. Vasiliy Lomachenko, Gervonta Davis, Isaac Cruz — let’s make it happen,” he declared confidently after the fight.
While challenges remain in securing these marquee matchups, Davis’ size and skill present a daunting challenge for any opponent. Despite potential hurdles, including weight class negotiations, Davis’ determination and meteoric rise leave no doubt that he’s ready for the sport’s biggest stages.
